FIELLDS stands for Facilitating Innovation, Engagement, and Literacy for Language Development in Students.
Funded by the University of Georgia Office of the Provost, this project bridges the gap between literacy and world language pedagogy by providing asynchronous, research-based professional learning for teachers across the state. Developed by Dr. JoAnna Arnold, Dr. Lou Tolosa-Casadont, and Dr. Shannon Borum in collaboration with the University of Georgia and statewide partners, the FIELLDS modules equip world language teachers with strategies to strengthen literacy development through language instruction. These asynchronous modules, created as part of the Rural FIELLDS initiative, are designed for all world language teachers in Georgia and hosted on the open-access Canvas platform to ensure wide access. |
The Rural FIELLDS Project is a professional learning community for world language educators in rural Georgia. This cohort provides access to asynchronous learning modules, in conjunction with synchronous meetings to allow for deeper engagement and collaboration opportunities for rural teachers who often work in professional isolation.
