About me
I'm a French teacher at Jackson High School, in rural Butts County, Georgia. I teach French 1, 2, and 3/4 in addition to coordinating the International Skills Diploma Seal and Seal of Biliteracy for our school. 

One of my absolute favorite things is to travel and learn about cultures around the world...especially when it involves delicious food! 

The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program has been an incredible, transformative experience and I'm so happy to share with you here. 

Why Global Education? 
To me, global education is not an "extra." It is an essential part of preparing students for the lives they will lead after they leave our schools. Our students may grow up in a rural community, but they are entering a world where they will work alongside people from different cultures, collaborate across borders, and navigate an increasingly interconnected economy. At the same time, rural communities themselves are becoming more diverse. Many of our graduates will build careers and raise families close to home, but even then, they will benefit from the ability to communicate across cultures, appreciate different perspectives, and engage thoughtfully with people whose experiences differ from their own.
That is why I believe global competence should be woven throughout a student's educational experience rather than confined to a single classroom or content area. As a world language teacher, I have the privilege of helping students develop those skills through the lens of language and culture, but the goal has always been bigger than learning French. I want students to leave my classroom with the curiosity to ask questions, the confidence to engage with unfamiliar perspectives, and the understanding that learning about the world also helps us better understand our own communities. Those skills support the broader mission of preparing students not only for college and careers, but also for meaningful participation in an increasingly connected and diverse society.
